Apples in Autumn, A Wisconsin Delight – an Adult ESL Podcast

We love our apples in Wisconsin, and autumn here is almost synonymous with apples. We eat apples, we play games with apples, we give apples as gifts and we even incorporate apple expressions in our language. Maybe it would be faster to list what we DON’T do with apples here in Wisconsin! For that reason, this episode of Time Out with Rita is Apples in Autumn, a Wisconsin Delight.

Lisa Fabian-Albert, an ESL instructor at the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) joins us to discuss Wisconsinites’ love of apples and usage of apple idioms to reflect the importance of this fruit to the Wisconsin culture.

Join us for apple idioms, an apple riddle, history on Johnny Appleseed, and even an easy recipe for apple crisp. Also, being our first podcast in November, we will review some of the important events that have occurred in history during the month of November, events to remember.

After each segment in the podcast, there are questions to help students recall important information and develop their listening skills.

Our podcast is available on Anchor.fm, Breaker, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, and Radio Public. I hope you and your students will join us!
