Christmas Bingo & Odd One Out

I am currently teaching ESL to the mothers of students at a local Catholic elementary school, so celebrating Christmas is something we all look forward to. This Christmas, I used an ESL Christmas Vocabulary Quizlet (there are many, or you can create your own) to give the students some seasonal vocabulary. Then, they filled in this Christmas Bingo template with the vocabulary so each student had her own unique Bingo card. This worked well as the students learned from studying the Quizlet vocabulary, then writing it on their Bingo grids, listening to the vocabulary as it was called, and repeating it in order to win their Bingo.

I followed this activity with a Christmas version of Odd One Out, repeating the Christmas vocabulary that we were studying. The students did their best to explain why and which of the vocabulary was the “Odd One Out.”

I hope you, too, will be able to use these materials to help your ESL students learn more about and participate in some of our American Christmas traditions.

Merry Christmas to all!
